The Original Horror Hostess and Morticia: Maila Nurmi

Greeting my fellow Wierdlings! It's been dreadfully quiet lately! Are you all dead? Why didn't you invite me?

Anyhow I watched a most interesting documentary about Maila Nurmi. One of the fascinating mentions was that in 1953 she based her 'Vampira' movie career and Horror Hostess character on the New Yorker cartoons of Charles Addams namely Morticia Addams. I have included the Wikipedia link but there is so much more and would encourage anyone interested in Horror History to Google a few of her images and videos. R.I.P. Malia.

Zombie Balls!

We seem to be on a zombie kick lately (:-D), so I thought I'd offer up something too.

Behold... Zombie Balls! No, not that kind!!! To be anatomically correct, they are actually "Zombie Bowling Heads".

Sadly not for sale, these functional works of art work were created by German designer Jung von Matt to promote a new sci-fi/horror TV channel in Germany called "13th Street". Follow the link below to see more pics and a video.

Screaming Skull Movie 1958

Cool movie poster from the 1958 b&w movie 'Screaming Skull'. I LOVE old 1930's to 60's horror flicks. The title Screaming Skull is cool but the movie was not that great. Good for a laugh though. One of Ricvictorian's favorite scary movies is the epic 'White Zombie' starring the immortal Bela Lugosi in 1932!
