Matt Webb and his Pug Pillow
![]() |
| "...pug pillows for all!" - Matt Webb |
This picture is taken from one of Matt's videos where he serenades us, and tells us to check out his EP called Coda and Jacket, with the promise of pug pillows for all who give it a spin (see video at link below)!
I already own the EP - I love it and and it gets played a lot! It didn't actually come with a pug pillow, but if it did...
...I'd give it to misspulga!

Ian Casselman's Anatomical Guitar Shirt
Ian Casselman is the epic drummer of Marianas Trench. What caught my eye in this picture is not his mustard-yellow pants (although arguably, mustard makes everything better), but rather the totally rad spine/ribcage guitar t-shirt he is so fashionably sporting!
I want that shirt! It brings together two of my favourite things - anatomy and guitars! If anyone knows where to procure this shirt, please comment or drop us a line at: screamingskullsweirdclub@gmail.com.

Marianas Trench...by August Burns Red!
A little metal...a little Marianas Trench, courtesy of August Burns Red. The band ran a "make an epic music video" contest for this song, and here is the awesome fan-made result! The star of the video is Mariana, by the way, and I think we can all guess the bit about the Trench.

Who is Rick Genest?

Lady Gaga's "Born This Way"
Lady Gaga Remix for Mugler Fashion Show
Well, he's Canadian... that's for starters. Born and raised in Quebec, Rick started his tattoo journey at the age of 16. Now 26, he's spent $17,000 (and counting) on his body art, which now covers more than 80% of his body. His friends nick-named him "Zombie Boy" for obvious reasons.
In January 2011, Lady Gaga's personal stylist - and the creative director of famed Paris fashion house Thierry Mugler - Nicole Formichetti, came across a photo of Rick on the interwebz and the rest is history. She flew him out to Paris to model in the Mugler men's fashion show, and offered him a cameo spot in Lady Gaga's music video for "Born This Way".
Since then, Rick was awarded the Guinness Book of World Records for "the most insects tattooed on the human body (178)" and "the most bones inked on a human body (138)".
He is currently enjoying a bit of a cult following, but according to his website he has "very little desire for material wealth". Instead, he "believes in maintaining his strong relationships and hopes that one day he will be able to give back to his friends back home all that they have given him." Sounds like a decent bloke. :-) Check out Rick's website after the jump.

Vampires Will Never Hurt You
And if they get me and the sun...goes down into the ground, and if they get me take this spike to my heart, and...and if they get me and the sun...goes down...and if they get me take this spike...and...you put the spike in my heart!!!
And if the sun comes up will it tear the skin right off our bones, and then...as razor sharp white teeth rip out our necks, I saw you there...someone get me to the doctor, sometone get me to a church, where. they. can. pump. this. venom, gaping hole...and you, must keep your soul, like a secret in your throat...and if they come and get me...what if...you put the spike in my heart!!!
And if they get me and the sun...goes down. And if they get me take this spike...and....Come on!
Can you take this spike? Will it fill our hearts with thoughts of endless...night. time. sky? Can you take this spike? Will it wash away this jet black feeling?
And now the nightclub...sets the stage for this...they come in pairs, she said...we'll shoot back holy water like cheap whiskey, they're always there...someone get me to the doctor, and someone call the nurse...and...someone buy me roses, and...someone burned the church....we're, hanging out with corpses, and driving in this hearse....and...someone save my soul tonight...please. save. my soul!!!
Can you take this spike? Will it fill our hearts with thoughts of endless...night. time. sky? Can you take this spike? Will it wash away this jet. black. now?? (Let's go! C'mon!)
And as these days watch over time, and as these days watch over time...and as these days watch over us tonight...And as these days watch over time, and as these days watch over time and as these days watch...o-ver us tonight!
I'll never let them, I'll never let them...I'll never let them hurt you, not tonight...I'll never let them, I can't forget them...I'll never let them hurt you, I promise...
Struck down, be-fore...our prime...before, you got off the floor! Can you stake my heart? Can you stake my heart?
Can you stake my heart? Can you stake my heart? (And these thoughts of endless night...bring us back into the light...and this venom from my heart...)
Can you stake my heart? Can you stake my heart? (And these thoughts of endless night...bring us back into the light...kill this venom from my heart...)
Can you....stake me....be-fore...the sun...goes...down...?
(And as always, innocent like roller coasters...fatality is like ghosts in snow and you have no idea what you're up against...because I've seen what they look like...becoming perfect as if they were sterling silver chainsaws going cascading...)

New Age Goth: You're Doing It Wrong
Oh, Aqua... You should have stayed in the '90s where you belonged, with "I'm a Barbie Girl". That song was annoying, but at least it was catchy. This... well, um... eck. :-S

Quote of the Day
"Also, I'm nosferatu so that helps. Nosferatu is a classy way to say vampire. Either way you wanna say it, I can't be killed by conventional weapons." ~ Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench, via Twitter, on songwriting at all hours of the night.
It appears as if Mr. Ramsay and I have more in common than I originally thought!

The Tale of Marianas Trench and The Vampire
Josh: Where am I? How did I get in this cage? Why are there zombies everywhere? This is not good...not good at all.
Matt: ~Looking somewhat mummified, staggering towards Josh~ Brraaaaaaaiiiinnnss...
Ian: ~Completes the trio~ Mmmm....orrrrrgannnnss....
Josh: Uhh...guys? You're not looking so hot... ~Shudder~ Why do I get the feeling I'm never getting out of here? It's so dark. Can someone direct me to the exit?
The Vampire: ~Appears out of nowhere~ Hello there, Josh. I am The Vampire. Welcome to my humble abode. I'm glad you were able to find the address. How do you like my friends?
Josh: Oh! Hey there, Vampire. Yeah, uh...it's not really my kind of crowd. And just to get it out there, I don't think you'd want to suck my blood either...it probably tastes like Coke Zero because that's pretty much all I drink. So, catch you later? Maybe without zombies?
The Vampire: I'd like my Marianas Trench quartet to be complete....You're mine, Ramsay!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright, so The Vampire on this blog is a bit of a Marianas Trench fan. The Vampire in Marianas Trench's new video for their latest single "Haven't Had Enough" is actually played by Darla Taylor, and I don't think she's meant to be a vampire; perhaps a Zombie Queen? This section about zombies is actually only a fraction of the video; the rest contains bits about the band's adventures in Paris, Egypt, on a Pirate Ship, and in Toy Land. You can check out the video on either of the links below! Full credit to Marianas Trench for all the awesome ideas for the video and so forth. Zombie Pirates are the best!!!!!

A misspulga Favorite: The Smashing Pumpkins
This song and video are so nostalgic for me... and not to mention *epically* steampunk! Ahhhhh. Viva los '90s! :-)
A Vampire Favourite: My Chemical Romance
Helena Live (MTV Studio session)
I wanted to post about this band for a long time - My Chemical Romance. They've been a favourite of mine since 2004. They come from New Jersey, their music is awesome, and the storyline for the music video for their hit single Helena is about the most EPIC funeral ever!
Above is a video for a live version of the song they did for MTV (I want Gerard's "Revenge" bracelet!!!), and below I've posted a link to the official music video (because MCR doesn't allow embedding of their official media). Check it out!!! I've also posted a link to the band's website. All rights for everything go to MCR. Love them!

~Trends~ by Ricvictorian
A post by Ricvictorian... Discussion and comments are welcome!
What’s up with this ‘Steam Punk’ thing? Looks like fun for youngish types. Is this a new trend with them dressing and partying Victorian? What would be a typical Steam Punk band popular now? Perhaps this is an offshoot of the Goth / Vampire craze infecting western society lately?
Looks like fun as I have seen sooo many trends come and go including many in which I used to indulge: Classical, Hippy/Psydellic, Blues Rock/Hard Rock, Acid/Heavy Metal, Glitter Rock, Progressive Rock, Southern Rock, Disco, Punk, New Wave, Psychobilly (The Cramps) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVLpaiH2hbQ , Gen X, etc etc etc.
I have always marched to my own drummer but even so still find these labels descriptive and fun as I have ‘been there, done that’. That said I have always been attracted to the darker, melancholy side of these various trends. Be it, Johann Sebastian Bach’s ‘Toccata and Fugue in D minor’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVJD3dL4diY which is my favorite ever!!!
Another ultimate is Blue Oyster Cult, ‘Baby Don’t Fear the Reaper’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClQcUyhoxTg .
To bands such as Audience (House on the Hill) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1tGNk1d5gI , Black Sabbath, Emmerson Lake & Palmer, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, Bauhaus (Bela Lugosi's Dead) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKRJfIPiJGY , Ministry (Every Day is Halloween) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXtX9u7_6F8 , M Manson and the list go’s on and on both backwards and forwards.
All summed up though I have never been a particular trend follower ...
I was just born that way and will always be that way.
I was just born that way and will always be that way.
SINcerely Yours ... Ricvictorian.
P.S. The Cramps ... “Do you want the real thing or are you just talking"?
Coolest Skeleton Music Video *Ever*!
Gotta love you some Chemical Brothers.
This sexy video brought to our attention by Ricvictorian.
