Pumpkin Carving 2013: Marianas Trench Ever After Toy Bear

Behold! The Vampire's Marianas Trench themed pumpkin carving for 2013. misspulga calls it the Bear-'o'-Lantern. It is modelled after the broken toy bear from Ever After's Toyland, who with the other toys felt the "apathy of heartlessness".

For my pumpkin carving design this year, I chose Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench.  It wasn't easy, but it was *SO* worth it!!  Special thanks to Josh for the perfect model-looking head-shot, to misspulga for providing the carving environment and supporting me during the carving process, and to Gwartzmans Art Supplies for the blue acetate!

Native Boutique in Hollywood, California

SSWC reader Chris Parkinson from California sent us these photos of "Native Boutique": A store in Hollywood that features various types of women's clothing, including a "crack rack" which has this-and-that type items that they are trying to move to a lower price. Hallowe'en Pumpkin Carving 2012 - Suggestions & Submissions

Well, it's that time of year again... Time to plan how we'll be carving our pumpkins for Hallowe'en!!! :-D Some of you may recall last year's efforts: The Vampire's stunning rendition of Victor from The Corpse Bride, and misspulga's anatomically correct (and beating!) heart. Whatever shall we create this year? Zombies? Sugar skulls? We want *you* to tell us what you'd like to see!!

In addition to hearing your suggestions, this year we want you to show us your mad skillz by sending in your pumpkin carving photos! Please leave us a comment, or e-mail your pumpkin carving suggestions and submissions to:

World's Largest Pumpkin, Carved Into Zombies!!!

Since we're on a pumpkin kick, I thought I'd up the ante by posting pics of the LARGEST - if not most epic - pumpkin ever carved. It weighs in at a massive 1, 818.5 lbs. and was sculpted by master food carver Ray Villafane. And what better subject matter than zombies - misspulga's favorite? I'm loving the pumpkin guts dripping off of everything.

misspulga's Anatomically Correct Heart-O-Lantern

Trick-or-Treat kiddies! How about an organ with your candy? Muahaha!

misspulga's heart comes alive with fire.

This year, the Vampire and misspulga made jack-o-lanterns together. The Vampire is a seasoned pro; this, however, was misspulga's first attempt at serious pumpkin carving. Not bad, if I do say so myself! :-) I chose to use a white pumpkin this year, rather than the classic orange. It looks great, but is like carving a squash... not to mention the fact that it smells oddly like pickles and cat urine. Oh, the things we do for art!

"Oh...but I love him!!" exclaimed The Vampire to misspulga as she turned around to marvel at her finished Hallowe'en 2011 original pumpkin carving. Corpse Bride is one of The Vampire's favourite Tim Burton films, so she decided that Victor was 'the one' for her pumpkin this year!
