Williams Sonoma Hallowe'en Items at Yorkdale, Toronto

Just wanted to share these awesome Hallowe'en finds I came across while shopping at Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto the other day.

Williams Sonoma has their Hallowe'en collection out right now, and it's pretty nice. I especially love their "Hallowe'en Potions" plate set that includes 'Hemlock Root', 'Wool of Bat', 'Witches' Brew', and 'Toe of Frog'. This design can also be found on a coaster set.  Click here to check out more Williams Sonoma Hallowe'en items.

The last photo in this post is a pair of skull & cross-bone shoes available for purchase at Town Shoes. They're really cute, but I did find them a tad expensive at $140. :-S

misspulga's New Skull Clutch

Check out this awesome skull clutch recently acquired by misspulga!!! It's in the Alexander McQueen style, but made by Baci Couture. The construction is solid, and it comes with two straps of varying lengths that you can switch or remove depending on your outfit/mood. Perfect for a night out on the town... Hallowe'en, New Year's Eve... or just any day of the week (if you're like me).

I had seen these online in various colours, but didn't know where to purchase one until I stumbled across them at The Shoe Company... while hunting for glow-in-the-dark zombie pumps (which sadly, they did not have).

As a side note, if anyone knows where to purchase zombie pumps in Toronto, please leave me a comment... I would purchase them online, except I want to be able to try them on first to make sure they fit! >:-)

A Quick Trip to The Junction in Toronto

This weekend, my Dad and brother and I went to The Junction - a neighborhood in Toronto located at Keele & Dundas. For those of you who aren't familiar with the area, check out this map of The Junction => Google Maps in order to situate yourselves. Even after living in the city as an adult for the past 10 years, I never realized that such a place existed in Toronto! It's eclectic and cool with a touch of the macabre - every bit the ideal Planet Obscura neighborhood. Below are some photos I took of shops and sights during the trip, featuring the following: Metropolis Living, Post and Beam Reclamation, The Rue Morgue House of Horror, and Smash.

Abstract Video by Inamoto Shinji

"motion feel" by Inamoto Shinji and Okada Hironari

There are days when I feel exactly what this video depicts. Abstract chaos. And yet somehow, despite the randomness, it all makes perfect sense...

Death in your living room?

I've featured one of Tom Spina's statues before (and that werewolf is still my favourite) and was back at the site browsing today when I saw this little beauty, which I think you will agree is appropriate for the SSWC blog.

Death on a Horse

This statue is life-sized and stands an imposing 8 feet tall.  Purchase it, or your own custom version, for a mere US$4999 through the link below.

Cyborg Rat for el Presidente

Sculpture métallique by jOh'.
I thought of our esteemed member el Presidente when
I saw this awsome rat skull art by sculptor jOh' so thought
I'd post it for her and everyone else's viewing pleasure.
Kinda reminds me of a Tim Burton character.
I wonder what 'eP' would name him?

Screaming (Saber Tooth) Skulls

Many Moons ago I thought about what an epic addition a Saber Tooth Cat Skull would be to my Victorian / Steam Punk themed curio collection. Alas, I could never afford a real fossil (2.5 Mil to 10,000 Yrs) skull until I stumbled upon a company who made life sized, quality molds of various Pleistocene age fossils. They are used for study in major colleges, universities and to be displayed in museums or private collections. These anchient mammal bones are extracted from the La Brea Tar Pits in California. When it arrived in the mail the only dissappointment was that the impressive skull was all one colour white. I proceeded to hand paint it to depict contrast between the softer bone and the enamel teeth as an original fossil would appear.

Epic: Black Diamond Skull Ring

And yet another epic ring to add to your dark jewelry box. This black diamond skull ring was created by Mastermind and CORE Jewels, a Japanese jewelry company. They make a lot of other cool jewel-embellished items! I'm really loving the angular shape of this ring. Totally unique!

Priceless!

This skull is priceless. I'm not sure if I'd like my skull bejeweled in that manner, especially if I were still alive during the process.

Mmmmm.... brains!

Desserts for zombies. Hmmm, I might even eat this.

Since when do brains resemble cake?

Click on the following links to see more skull cakes. Growlingbelly gives quick access to other skull cake photos, but the images were originally compiled by Skulls and Bacon.
