Most Ridiculous Shoes Ever Made? - MSN Lifestyle Video
These shoes definitely fit the "weird" criteria of SSWC. I think the artist's commentary on fashion/beauty is successful, because it showcases the crazy lengths people go to so that they may be viewed as popular or beautiful in today's society. Watch the video (originally posted on MSN.ca's Lifestyle page) below and leave a comment - let us know what you think!

While scrolling through my RSS feeds on Google Reader, I happened upon an interesting post by Neatorama regarding "beautiful prosthetic limbs". I have always been fascinated by amputation from a neuropsychological perspective, but also aesthetically speaking... Perhaps I have ASTAR to thank for this morbid curiosity (see video below - anyone who grew up in the 80s will instantly be transported back in time!)...
Regardless of my strange personal tastes, I can't imagine *anyone* who wouldn't be drawn to the beauty of 'the alternative limb project'. Directed by Sophie de Oliveira Barata (in the UK), this amazing service combining form and function provides amputees with a creative and personalized alternatives to traditional prosthetic limbs. The hyper-realistic limbs she creates can help amputees feel more "whole" again, while the alternative-style limbs can - according to her website - "help break down social barriers". These limbs are certainly conversation pieces to say the least.
I really believe in the work Sophie is doing. I think that these beautiful works of art truly have the power to heal by helping individuals to regain their confidence and reforge their identities following the tragic loss of a limb. A person will never be the same after surviving an amputation, but Sophie's talents and dedication have the ability to turn this difficult situation into an empowering experience.

Ian Casselman's Anatomical Guitar Shirt
Ian Casselman is the epic drummer of Marianas Trench. What caught my eye in this picture is not his mustard-yellow pants (although arguably, mustard makes everything better), but rather the totally rad spine/ribcage guitar t-shirt he is so fashionably sporting!
I want that shirt! It brings together two of my favourite things - anatomy and guitars! If anyone knows where to procure this shirt, please comment or drop us a line at: screamingskullsweirdclub@gmail.com.

Who is Rick Genest?

Lady Gaga's "Born This Way"
Lady Gaga Remix for Mugler Fashion Show
Well, he's Canadian... that's for starters. Born and raised in Quebec, Rick started his tattoo journey at the age of 16. Now 26, he's spent $17,000 (and counting) on his body art, which now covers more than 80% of his body. His friends nick-named him "Zombie Boy" for obvious reasons.
In January 2011, Lady Gaga's personal stylist - and the creative director of famed Paris fashion house Thierry Mugler - Nicole Formichetti, came across a photo of Rick on the interwebz and the rest is history. She flew him out to Paris to model in the Mugler men's fashion show, and offered him a cameo spot in Lady Gaga's music video for "Born This Way".
Since then, Rick was awarded the Guinness Book of World Records for "the most insects tattooed on the human body (178)" and "the most bones inked on a human body (138)".
He is currently enjoying a bit of a cult following, but according to his website he has "very little desire for material wealth". Instead, he "believes in maintaining his strong relationships and hopes that one day he will be able to give back to his friends back home all that they have given him." Sounds like a decent bloke. :-) Check out Rick's website after the jump.

What are we going to wear...??

Spider web and Red & black lace corset dresses
...to that New Year's Eve party? (I'm looking at you, misspulga...) Problem solved!!! I came across these fabulous dresses in Glamtastik's shop on Etsy. She makes fancy corset dresses for all occasions. Anyway, I'd like to celebrate my 605th New Year in style. That's right, I'm 604 years old, and I can rock a corset dress!

These shoes also rule!

Zombie Stomper Platforms
Shoes for misspulga. Zombie shoes!! These glow in the dark!!! They come in so many rad colours. I also thought it would be fitting to sandwich the Kelly video with shoes that rule! These heels are designed by Iron Fist, and they have many more awesome shoes on their website. Let's get 'em, indeed!
Shoes. Vampire shoes. Let's get 'em!
These fabulous heels are featured on many different costume websites (type "vampire shoes" into Google). They feature patent leather and black floral lace on red satin. I love the bat wing detail. I'd absolutely wear them on days/evenings other than Hallowe'en!
