Pumpkin Carving 2013: Marianas Trench Ever After Toy Bear

Behold! The Vampire's Marianas Trench themed pumpkin carving for 2013. misspulga calls it the Bear-'o'-Lantern. It is modelled after the broken toy bear from Ever After's Toyland, who with the other toys felt the "apathy of heartlessness".

Happy Hallowe'en 2013!!!

Josh Ramsay Pumpkin Carving - "Josh-o'-Lantern"

Josh Ramsay - a work in progress
The finished "Josh-o'-Lantern"

For my pumpkin carving design this year, I chose Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench.  It wasn't easy, but it was *SO* worth it!!  Special thanks to Josh for the perfect model-looking head-shot, to misspulga for providing the carving environment and supporting me during the carving process, and to Gwartzmans Art Supplies for the blue acetate!

misspulga's Reina de los Muertos Hallowe'en Makeup

Last Hallowe'en, misspulga was inspired by sugar skulls to create this one-of-a-kind "Reina de los Muertos" costume. All makeup was original, and hand-painted by misspulga herself. She submitted her photo to the epic Skull-A-Day blog, and had the privilege of being featured on their site [link to blog post].

After a ghoulishly festive All Hallow's Eve with the Vampire and the Werewolf at the Vampire's lair, misspulga returned home and started morphing back into her daytime persona (as can be seen in the photograph below). ;-)

Williams Sonoma Hallowe'en Items at Yorkdale, Toronto

Just wanted to share these awesome Hallowe'en finds I came across while shopping at Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto the other day.

Williams Sonoma has their Hallowe'en collection out right now, and it's pretty nice. I especially love their "Hallowe'en Potions" plate set that includes 'Hemlock Root', 'Wool of Bat', 'Witches' Brew', and 'Toe of Frog'. This design can also be found on a coaster set.  Click here to check out more Williams Sonoma Hallowe'en items.

The last photo in this post is a pair of skull & cross-bone shoes available for purchase at Town Shoes. They're really cute, but I did find them a tad expensive at $140. :-S

Native Boutique in Hollywood, California

SSWC reader Chris Parkinson from California sent us these photos of "Native Boutique": A store in Hollywood that features various types of women's clothing, including a "crack rack" which has this-and-that type items that they are trying to move to a lower price. Apparently, they have epic jewelry too. These pictures feature Native Boutique's 2012 Hallowe'en displays. Thanks to our US friends for your contributions... Keep the photos coming! :-)

Please send your photo submissions (including your name and location) to: screamingskullsweirdclub@gmail.com

Well, it's that time of year again... World's Largest Pumpkin, Carved Into Zombies!!!

Since we're on a pumpkin kick, I thought I'd up the ante by posting pics of the LARGEST - if not most epic - pumpkin ever carved. It weighs in at a massive 1, 818.5 lbs. and was sculpted by master food carver Ray Villafane. And what better subject matter than zombies - misspulga's favorite? I'm loving the pumpkin guts dripping off of everything.

Check out the link for more pics, and a video of Ray carving the pumpkin.

misspulga's Anatomically Correct Heart-O-Lantern

Trick-or-Treat kiddies! How about an organ with your candy? Muahaha!

misspulga's heart comes alive with fire.

This year, the Vampire and misspulga made jack-o-lanterns together. The Vampire is a seasoned pro; this, however, was misspulga's first attempt at serious pumpkin carving. Not bad, if I do say so myself! :-) I chose to use a white pumpkin this year, rather than the classic orange. It looks great, but is like carving a squash... not to mention the fact that it smells oddly like pickles and cat urine. Oh, the things we do for art!

Victor from Corpse Bride...Jack-o-Lantern!

Victor lighting a candle at his wedding ceremony rehearsal

"Oh...but I love him!!" exclaimed The Vampire to misspulga as she turned around to marvel at her finished Hallowe'en 2011 original pumpkin carving. Corpse Bride is one of The Vampire's favourite Tim Burton films, so she decided that Victor was 'the one' for her pumpkin this year!

Heidi Klum's Amazing Hallowe'en Costume

In case you didn't know, Heidi Klum's annual Hallowe'en party is THE party to be at if you're an A-lister. She's known for her outrageous - and sometimes controversial - costumes. This year, as you can see from the photos, she dressed up as a "dead body" and was wheeled into her party on a stretcher by two doctors!!! Awesome. She's definitely earned points in my book. :-D

Check out more photos of Heidi at her party, her step-by-step transformation from supermodel to corpse, previous years' costumes, and a hideous pic of DESPERATE Real Housewife Bettheny Frankel dressed up as "Hello Cougar". :-S

Hallowe'en at the Wine Store

Yes, those *are* wine bottles. :-) Check out the awesome display I helped make at work today with two other colleagues. We've got it all: witches, vampires, mummies, and Frankenstein himself! Not to mention the bats and creepy graveyard scene (Copper Moon trees included at no extra charge).

Only 12 more days until the High Holy Holiday is upon us! What are *you* going to dress up as???

Bat/Gargoyle...Jack-o-Lantern!

Bat? Gargoyle? Either way, awesome.

Behold The Vampire's pumpkin carving endeavour from Hallowe'en 2010. Don't you just love the adorable little fangs?

The Vampire is currently accepting ideas for Hallowe'en Jack-o-Lantern 2011. Post your suggestions in the comments...your idea could inspire the next Vampire original pumpkin carving!

Shoes. Vampire shoes. Let's get 'em!

Spellbound Vampire Shoes

These fabulous heels are featured on many different costume websites (type "vampire shoes" into Google). They feature patent leather and black floral lace on red satin. I love the bat wing detail. I'd absolutely wear them on days/evenings other than Hallowe'en!

The Demon Barber of Fleet Street...Jack-o-Lantern!

He shaved the faces of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard of again.

Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd! An original carving by The Vampire circa Hallowe'en 2008. Thanks to Johnny Depp and Tim Burton for inspiration!
