From heart-eaters to science pirates (because there's nothing more badass than science!), the following article chronicles seven of history's most terrifying pirates. Definitely worth a read!
misspulga, I saw this print and immediately thought of you! I found it on betwixxt's shop on Etsy. It comes in a vampiric version too, but I like this one more.
Who's Yo Daddy? Jesse James' hideous lilac-colored coffin couch.
So you all probably remember [VonErickson's original coffin couch design]from a previous post I wrote... Very classy and elegant. Behold! It now comes in a pimpin' Jersey Shore version too (not created or endorsed by VonErickson). I can just imagine The Situation gettin' it on with a corpse... All that's missing are a few Ed Hardy emblems, and voilà! Bob's your dead uncle. If this couch had a velvet or leather interior - and if another color scheme was used, however, we *could* have ourselves a winner.
It is *très* unfortunate that both Kat Von D and Jesse James own one... I suppose we are just part of a larger Venn Diagram in which our awesome bubble is overlapping with theirs... *shudder*.
Has anyone else come across "coffin couches" they'd like to share? Do check out the link below for much nicer looking versions of the model featured in this post. [Link to Coffin Couches website]
I am thoroughly disgusted by, yet drawn to this sculpture. I don't think I'll eat chicken for the rest of the month. Thanksgiving might be a bit difficult as well. :-S
The art of carving nickels dates back to the 18th century. It was popularized during the Depression era, as it gave unemployed artists something to do. This art form survives today, and even has it's own society: the OHNS (Original Hobo Nickel Society). You'll mainly see folk art depicted on these nickels, however I came across some that are decidedly macabre... and of course had to share. Check out the first link to see more examples.
...you can have a Chalkboard Skull on which to write your notes and reminders!! These gorgeous and functional pieces are created by Chicago-based artists Sarah and Joseph Belknap (known as iamhome on Etsy). Check out their shop; these skulls come in all sorts of fun and fashionable colours! Wicked home decor, right?
A collection of Poes in Kakariko Graveyard, Hyrule, outside the entrance to the Spirit Temple
Poes are "ghosts" in the video game series The Legend of Zelda. Unfriendly in general, they always seem to be seeking revenge. They inhabit graveyards, temples, and dark places such as caves. Each poe carries a lantern with it that contains its soul. Above is a sketch of three different poes, the two on the left from Twilight Princess and the one on the right from Ocarina of Time. They come in many other forms too. Credit to Shigeru Miyamoto and the Nintendo team for imagining such fancy-looking spirits!
I wanted to post about this band for a long time - My Chemical Romance. They've been a favourite of mine since 2004. They come from New Jersey, their music is awesome, and the storyline for the music video for their hit single Helena is about the most EPIC funeral ever!
Above is a video for a live version of the song they did for MTV (I want Gerard's "Revenge" bracelet!!!), and below I've posted a link to the official music video (because MCR doesn't allow embedding of their official media). Check it out!!! I've also posted a link to the band's website. All rights for everything go to MCR. Love them!
